Frequently Asked Questions

What is Tails of Love?

Tails of Love is a non-profit organization established to provide education to residents of Western Nebraska and Eastern Wyoming about the importance of spaying and neutering companion animals and the positive impact that could be realized if annual numbers of litters decrease. In cooperation with our veterinary partner, Tails of Love is committed to providing financial assistance for the spaying and neutering of companion animals, feral and neighborhood cats.

Does Tails of Love help pay for the spaying and neutering of feral cats?

Yes. Tails of Love assists in the cost of spaying and neutering of feral and neighborhood cats.

I need my pet spayed and/or neutered. How can Tails of Love help me?

Tails of Love can help pay for some of the procedure. We do not cover the procedure in its entirety. In order to receive a voucher applied to unlock a discounted rate, please contact us via form or by phone at 308-633-7729. We then sort out the voucher for your animal’s procedure. Once at the clinic, the voucher is applied and the remaining payment is made with cash or credit card. Nebraska State Law requires a proof of rabies vaccine BEFORE the spay/neutering procedure for your animal. The spay/neuter procedure may not be administered along with any declawing, tail or ear-docking, (don’t do these anyway, they are cruel).

Does Tails of Love pay for vaccinations for my cats and dogs?

Tails of Love does not pay for vaccinations. Our funds are to assist only for the spaying or neutering of your pet.

My pet is sick and needs to go to the vet, will Tails of Love help pay the vet bill?

Tails of Love can assist with spay and neuter costs but cannot pay vet bills.

We are moving and can’t take our pet with us. Can you help us find our pet a new home?

Tails of Love cannot help you re-home your pet and we cannot take in pets as we have no facilities. The best we can do is to help you put the word out to people who may know someone who is willing to adopt your pet.

What is the cost of spaying and neutering with a Tails of Love voucher?

The cost of spaying and neutering depends on whether your pet is a cat or a dog and if it’s male or female. With dogs it also depends on the weight of the animal.

Please call us directly for cost information.

Is the Tails of Love spay and neuter voucher accepted and any veterinary clinic?

The spay and neuter voucher is accepted at two local veterinary clinics: Animal Health Center and Midtown Animal Hospital. We work exclusively with these clinics to provide spay and neuter services at a steeply discounted cost.

How long are the Tails of Love spay and neuter vouchers valid?

The vouchers are valid for thirty days from the date they are issued.  The spay and neuter procedure must be done within those thirty days or the voucher is invalid.

Is Tails of Love affiliated with The Panhandle Humane Society (PHS)?

Tails of Love is a 501(C)(3)-registered non-profit organization and we are not affiliated with Panhandle Humane Society (PHS).
